School visits

Visits can be scheduled from 10am to 4pm each school day or outside of those hours by arrangement. The usual visit time is 1 to 2 hours. Research facilities are available at the Museum. Any special interests of students and teachers can be catered for in regard to program variations.

How do I confirm a booking?

Upon receiving your application a confirmation call will be returned to your school and a teacher information pack will be posted out.

Cost

  • Standard tour and worksheets:
    • Kindergarten to Year 6   $3.30 per child
    • High School   $5.50 per person
    • Seniors and groups   $5.50 per person
  • Teacher and driver free
  • The school can be invoiced for the excursion after the visit or the amount can be paid on the day of the visit.

Teacher Information and Resource Pack

Once a booking form is returned confirming a visit, a teacher information and resource pack will be sent. The pack contains relevant information and worksheets. It is the responsibility of the school to photocopy the worksheets for the students.

What should we bring?

  • Something with which to write and/or draw
  • Clipboard
  • Photocopied workbooks (black masters supplied by AOFM)
  • ...and lots of questions!

Facilities Available

Wheelchair access, toilets, coach parking, picnic area and main street within a minute’s walk.

Supervision

Teachers should ensure that their students are adequately supervised. The Museum staff will provide a safe environment for all visitors. It would be appreciated if visitors treat exhibits with respect and responsibility.
